REPTILE RESCUE PROGRAM
Rescue program - Wrappin About Reptiles started a small reptile rescue program for abandoned, abused and unwanted reptiles. Over the past 8 years we have incorporated some of these unfortunate reptiles into our shows and displays, while many others were adopted out free of charge to responsible and knowledgeable people. We are working on establishing a large reptile facility in the next few years which would have several large areas for this growing problem. Although most often the cause is simply lack of knowledge involving the reptiles diet, adult size, space needed and keeping the reptiles lifespan in mind. All of these aspects of reptile husbandry should be explained to anyone buying a reptile or any animal for that matter, the purchaser is also responsible for asking questions and researching the animal they want. If everyone followed these basics the amount of abused and abandoned reptiles would drop dramatically which is exactly what Wrappin About Reptiles tries to do in all it's many parts.
Some of our rescues include a Ball python that was held by the tail and swung over the owners head. This broke the snakes back in 6 places. Today he is doing fine but requires a lot of extra care like small meals so that it is easier to pass through.
We have gotten Turtles that have been chewed on by dogs, driven over by cars. Snakes that have just got to big, lizards that have grow to very large sizes and gotten aggressive.
In 1998 we took in over 60 Iguanas and successfully placed them in very good homes.
