FEAR FACTOR

Gerritson gets up close and personal with Thing.

Calgarians had a blast Friday night at 'Cowboys' celebrating the nightclub's sixth birthday.  part of the evening's festivities was a bit of "Celebrity Fear Factor,"

Mookie Wilson and Dan Carson of country 105, Tommy James of the Peak 107.3, A-Channels Ken Reid and me were the competitors

First, Dean Harper and James Barbas from Wrappin About Reptile out of Olds, draped real snakes around us.  I was "part nerved" up with "Thing" a  14-foot Burmese Python.  We weren't  allowed to flinch.  It was gross.

Then, we had to talk for one minute without stammering - no pregnant pauses, no "ums," no "uhs" or "ahs."  That's where I failed.  Five seconds into the minute-long challenge I fell apart.  If you know me, you'd figure talking non-stop for a minute would be a breeze.  No dice.  Too much pressure.

Lastly, the remaining contestants had to, as goalies, face shots from hockey snipers.  I flubbed and failed.

Kudos to Tommy James, who was stellar and won the event hands down.  James won $2,000 cash to put towards his favourite charitable cause- the Kidney Foundation.
