CONSERVATION
Conservation - Wrappin About Reptiles does it's part for conservation by only buying animals that are captive bred and therefore not impacting these reptiles in the wild. You can help too by following their example, you'll feel good and your animals will likely thrive for years to come. We have also started our own captive breeding program to supply knowledgeable people with captive bred reptiles (to see our breeding projects click here).
Another way you help in conservation is to help keep the Environment clean, by picking up garbage, pop cans etc.
In early June of 2003 Wrappin About reptiles got a call from a friend of theirs, a Biologist for Alberta Environment in Southern Alberta. He had rescued a gravid ( pregnant ) Bullsnake that had some injuries. We took the snake back with us and she laid 12 eggs about 4 weeks later. With a lot of T. L. C. the snakes injuries healed up nicely, she is now part of our educational talks at schools and other events.

In early fall of 2003 the eggs started to hatch, in total 6 came out full of attitude and very healthy, 3 of the eggs did not develop at all, and one drowned in the egg trying to open egg to come out, and the last two had died in the eggs some time earlier. It took about a week and a half before they ate their first meal but 2 were a little stubborn and refused all meals. It took 2 more weeks to get the fussy two to eat, unfortunately one of them died due to unknown causes.
In the late of fall we took 4 of the five little bulls to a undisclosed location in Southern Alberta with our Biologist friend to release them in a know Hibernaculum ( winter den site ). It was a sad day to see them go, but also a very overwhelming day knowing that we just helped a species at risk. This was a very proud day for us we hope our little friends have a good life doing and being what they should Alive and Free.
Opps forgot, if you are wondering what happened to the fifth little Bullsnake he is here with us eating very good and will be released in the spring of 2004.
